About Me

My name is Nic McNamara and I am a Highly Specialist Speech and
Language Therapist. I have over 20 years’ experience of working with autistic children and adults, since qualifying in 2000.

I have worked in educational settings, community teams and specialist secure inpatient provision within the NHS. I have worked in a forensic community team for adults with autism and / or learning disability since 2010, where I am the clinical lead for autism. This is a multi-disciplinary team which aims to support vulnerable people who are involved in the criminal justice system. Many of the people I work with have additional mental health needs.

I am also an autism diagnostician, working in partnership with a number of autism diagnostic teams within independent practice. I am trained to use the ADOS-2, ADI-R, DISCO and ACIA diagnostic tools.

I am registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC) and Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
